Tracy Allen
University of MaineJoint internship with Maine Fair Trade Campaign and Peace through Interamerican Community Action (PICA).
Will work as a community organizer and educator on issues of trade and sweatshops.
Zacharie Boyce
University of MaineStudent computer tech III (continuing and distance education) at UMaine.
Will be able to use tools specifically related to major; encoding online classes, creating reference files and designing advertising for the Distance Education Department.
Robin Caron
St. Joseph's CollegeStudent researcher at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Will gain experience in biomedical research, particularly in emergency medical services, procedural sedation, anagelsia and cardiology. Will undertake an individual project on ultrasounds.
Alexander Cornell du Houx
Bowdoin CollegeWorking for Lee Umphrey, spokesperson for Governor John Baldacci
Hopes to learn more about government — most specifically communications.
Brian Dupee
Bates CollegeResearch Assistant for Will Ambrose, head of biology at Bates.
Will be digging and monintoring blood worm populations on tidal rivers in Maine.
David Lapointe
University of MaineUndergraduate research assistant with Keith Berube at the University of Maine.
Working on a research and development project that will help build better hulls for ships. Hopes to find a focus for senior thesis and graduate work.
Keri Lyle
University of MaineInternship with New Student Programs at the University of Maine.
Will work with the the Coordinator of New Student Programs on new initiatives — her career aspirations are in higher education.
Rachel Philio
Bates CollegeInternship at Smith/Lull/Reuter Architecture in Lewiston.
Architecture internship will give her an opportunity to explore the career field as she has not had the chance to take classes or get hands-on experience.
Michael Reutershan
Bowdoin CollegeIntern at biotech lab Binax in Portland.
Will work with human invitro diagnostics, with an emphasis on the design and production of immunochromatographic tests for bacteria and viruses causing upper and lower respiratory tract infections.
Christopher Rogeski
Thomas CollegeSummer internship at Taxware (a Tax Software company) in Aroostook County.
12-week internship for college credit to expose students to the complete lifecycle of software design.
Desiree St. Cyr
University of Southern MaineVolunteer, Camp Sunshine, Casco, Maine.
Has volunteered at Camp Sunshine before but only for a week at a time. Wishes to devote an entire summer. Hopes to become a social worker in the medical field, particularly dealing with cancer patients.
