Tony DiSotto, a 1999 Mitchell Scholar from Jay High School, Maine Market President for KeyBank, and member of the Institute’s Board of Directors, is one of the newest members of the Truc Huynh Alumni Giving Society.
Named in honor of the late Truc Huynh, a 2001 Mitchell Scholar from Portland High School whose generosity and community spirit continue to inspire Scholars and Alumni alike, the Society recognizes Mitchell Scholar Alumni who have given back to the Institute at or beyond the value of their original Mitchell Scholarship.
A longtime leader in Maine’s financial sector, DiSotto oversees KeyBank’s market strategy across the state, guiding teams that help individuals and institutions achieve long-term economic success. Under his leadership, KeyBank has continued to support the Mitchell Institute’s mission to expand educational opportunities and strengthen Maine communities through investment in the next generation of leaders.
DiSotto shared that his passion for the Institute’s work stems from his own experience as a Mitchell Scholar. When Tony received his scholarship as part of the first statewide class of Mitchell Scholars, Senator Mitchell shared these parting words in his address: “As you reach a point in life when you are able to do so, we hope that you will pay forward the support you have received, whether through giving monetarily to the Institute, mentoring a Scholar, or sharing opportunities at your place of work. You are under no obligation, but by doing so, you will help ensure that a child now growing up in your community might be able to follow in your footsteps.”
“I have seen firsthand how opportunity and mentorship can open doors, and I admire the Institute’s mission to support Maine students in achieving academic success, building confidence, and giving back to their communities,” he said. “I am proud to be a Mitchell Alumni and current board member. I look forward to continuing to be involved in the work of the Institute as it aligns with my own values of investing in people, fostering potential, and creating a positive impact across the state of Maine.”
DiSotto’s continued generosity as a member of the Truc Huynh Alumni Giving Society reflects his deep commitment to ensuring that future generations of Maine students have access to the same transformative opportunities that shaped his own path.
Membership in the Society honors those who embody Senator George J. Mitchell’s vision that Scholars “give back to their communities throughout their lifetimes.” Through their leadership and philanthropy, these alumni ensure that the Mitchell Institute’s mission will continue to thrive for generations to come.
For 30 years, the Mitchell Institute has helped Maine students overcome barriers to higher education. By providing financial support, personal guidance, and a lifelong network, the Institute empowers Mitchell Scholars to graduate, build meaningful careers, and strengthen Maine’s communities and workforce through their success and leadership.
