The Mitchell Institute was proud to join scholarship leaders from across the country at the National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) Conference, a national gathering focused on sharing innovative practices and strengthening the impact of scholarship programs.
Representing the Institute were Scholarship Director Casey Near and Operations Manager Erica Leighton, who participated in sessions centered on equity, data-driven support, and student success.
“Attending NSPA was an amazing opportunity to learn about national trends and topics affecting scholarship providers, connect with colleagues, and hear about tools and strategies that can inform how we continue to support Mitchell Scholars and Alumni,” Leighton shared.
During the conference, Near served as a panelist on a session about leveraging data to better serve students. Her remarks showcased how the Mitchell Institute uses actionable insights to refine its support for Scholars — particularly through its mentorship initiatives, emergency funding program, and efforts to build stronger community connections.
Hosted at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, NSPA 2025 convened scholarship providers, foundations, and higher education partners to exchange ideas and explore best practices in the field. The Mitchell Institute’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to continuous learning and collaboration, ensuring that Maine Scholars continue to benefit from nationally informed, locally grounded support.
